More and more children are chatting to us online. Children need us when they need us, not when we are available. More and more children need us on weekends and at night. They want a reliable, confidential and accessible service at the time and place that is convenient for them.
The work we do in ChildLine is all about a child’s voice and a child’s choice!
This is where you can help. As a ChildLine Counsellor you will be providing a helpline service for children and young people contacting ChildLine with a wide range of issues by phone, email or 1-2-1 chat.
With guidance from ChildLine supervisors, you will work alongside our fantastic volunteers providing high quality responses to every child or young person who contacts ChildLine.
To be successful in this role you will need to show us you can engage with children and young people, help them explore their feelings and options in a safe way. You will also have knowledge of child protection systems and best practice and the ability to recognise child protection risk.
What’s in it for you? You will get excellent training as a counsellor, on-going support and mentoring from your supervisors, generous pension and holiday package.
But most importantly, it is an opportunity to change children’s lives!
You must be available to work between the following hours: Saturday - 1830–0130hrs, Sunday - 1800–0130hrs and Wednesday - 1800–0100hrs (every other week will be for supervision and administration work). These shifts are fixed and we will need your ability to commit to these hours.
Ref: CLS238 Closing date: Midnight on 8th December 2013
