Job Description

The York Marriott Hotel is currently recruiting Casual Conference and Events Associates. As a casual Conference and Events Associate you will prepare, maintain and service all aspects of the Conference and Evets department. ensuring maximum customer satisfaction at all times in accordance to Marriott brand standards. As a Conference and Events Associate you will be required to fulfill roles as:

-Conference Operative

-Dedicated red jacket

-Breakdows & Set-Ups

-Event Service/Bars 


You will also be required to work alongside and recieve instructions from a shift supervisor and management team. 


Requirements

Experience:
  • Previous experience working within a similar style operation would be beneficial
  • Previous experience of working within a customer service environment
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Flexible hours in line with business needs
  • Must be well presented
  • Good communication skills
  • Have a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
Education or Certification:
  • Basic food hygiene certificate desirable
  • Good level of English essential


Responsibilities

  1. To provide professional, timely and hospitable bar service, ensuring total guest satisfaction.
  1. Set up the bar areas prior to service, ensuring sufficient levels of equipment and stock are in place for the day’s event.
  2. To greet all guests using the guests name as often as possible
  1. To provide customers with all they need, to ensure that guests have a great experience within the Conference & Events department whilst following Marriott Brand Standards of service excellence at all times
  1. To maintain the highest level of cleanliness, including safety of furniture, fixtures and fittings adopting a clean as you go work ethic,
  1. To ensure that payment is received from all guests and is posted directly through Micros 9700
  1. To ensure that wastage is kept to a minimum through the accurate and correct preparation and service of beverages.
  1. To ensure all guests bills and invoices are accurate
  1. To recommend and ‘sell’ to guests through menu knowledge and suggestive up selling techniques
  1. To be responsible for the safe keeping of all keys and floats
  1. To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene and meet Marriott grooming,  standards
  1. To promote awareness of Health & Safety and security within the department and hotel reporting any unsafe practices or dangers to your Supervisor immediately
  1. To participate in all departmental compulsory training
