Waverley’s Planning Service deals with over 2,750 planning applications each year. These range from small house extensions to major development proposals. The following exciting vacancies are currently available in our Planning Team.
Area Team Manager (Development Control)
37 Hours, Godalming, Surrey
Starting salary – £40,696 – £45,483 per annum
We have an excellent opportunity for a planning professional to manage a team of officers responsible for the development control function in one half of the Borough.
To be successful in this interesting and varied role, you will need to be a full member of the RTPI. You will demonstrate competency in project management, major applications and ability in performance management, together with a good knowledge of relevant planning procedures, legislation and policy.

Principal Planning Officer (Development Control)
37 hours, Godalming, Surrey
Starting salary – £37,588 – £41,462 per annum
Assisting and supporting the Area Team Managers you will be responsible for complex and high profile planning applications, including defending the Council’s position at appeal.
You will be an experienced and qualified Planner with some management experience. You will be able to display excellent organisational and time management skills.

Planning Officer (Development Control)
37 hours, Godalming, Surrey
Starting salary – £23,666 – £29,908 per annum
You will play a key role in helping us meet our corporate priorities including protecting and enhancing the environment, improving lives and providing value for money. Assisted by the Area Team Manager, you will assess planning applications, including defending the Council’s position at appeal
For this varied and interesting role, you will need to have excellent customer care and inter‑personal skills together with an ability to read plans and drawings, using your degree in Planning to the full.

37 hours, Godalming, Surrey
Starting salary – £37,588 – £41,462 per annum
Supporting the Planning Policy Manager you will be involved in the preparation and review of the Local Plan. Your role will also entail providing support and advice to town and parish councils preparing neighbourhood development plans.
You will be an experienced and qualified Planner with some management experience. You will be able to display excellent organisational and time management skills.
