Surrey Youth Support ServiceAssistant Youth Support Officer £22,790 - £26,989
Surrey is investing in Young People. Our ambition is to enable all Surrey’s young people to make a successful transition to adulthood and to participate fully in their communities and in education, training and employment. Central to this strategy is the offer from the in-house Youth Support Service which offers an integrated case work response to some of the county’s most vulnerable children and young people. This currently includes young people who are not in education training or employment, those in the youth justice system, some of the county’s teenage children in need and homeless 16 & 17 yr olds
We need highly motivated individuals to work in some of our eleven locality teams across the county. As an Assistant Youth Support Officer you will be offered a highly supportive environment in which to develop your skills in working with vulnerable teenagers to enable you to work with a mixed caseload of young people from across the full range of YSS activity. We are a restorative, family focussed service and applicants will be required to demonstrate an awareness of and commitment to these principles. We currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Youth Support Officer in the north east of the county. It is possible that other vacancies may arise in other locations and appointments will be to the service with an expectation that staff have some flexibility to move to different locations within the county if this is necessary in response to service need.
Successful applicants will be educated to degree level, or to A’level standard with significant experience working with vulnerable teenagers, or will hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a child or young person centred discipline
And will be able to demonstrate a range of skills & the potential required to working with vulnerable teenagers.
