About Commercial Banking
Our Commercial Banking division provides banking and risk management services to businesses with an annual turnover of over £1 million. It plays an essential role in helping Britain prosper, as well as having over 1.25 million SME businesses on its impressive client list and supporting over 100,000 new business start-ups each year. This is a highly successful and fast-growing area of Lloyds Banking Group.
Relationship Managers provide the client-facing side of the business. There are also many people working in support and product functions. These groups all work together to help us achieve our aim of being the best bank for clients, and to bring growth and prosperity to Britain as a whole.
About the programme
The aim of this two-year programme is to help you develop into a successful relationship manager based in our local regional communities. Our regional departments cover clients with an annual turnover between £1 million and £750 million. The programme consists of four six-month placements. One will be in Credit. One will be in Products. Two will be in Relationship Management. At the same time, you will enjoy a comprehensive training programme, covering such topics as commercial banking, products, and credit and risk analysis. By the end of the two years, you should have all the skills and experience you need to move into a Relationship Manager role and ultimately to become a future leader of Lloyds Banking Group.
To support your continuing growth and success, we’ll make sure you have frequent one-to-one feedback sessions with your line manager, and you will be assigned a sponsor or mentor who will be able to offer you guidance and advice. We will also help you gain a professional qualification that is relevant to your role.

So you need to show us that you’re passionate about developing a career in Relationship Management, and that you are someone who is going to be able to succeed in the fast-paced world of commercial business. Strong relationship-building skills are important, as you’ll be collaborating with people across a variety of teams. You’ll also need to be someone who can seize the initiative and who is seriously interested in the market.
